ACU member institution Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is now accepting applications for New Commonwealth Scholarships in Singapore. This Scholarship is for new, incoming students who are not Singapore citizens or permanent residents.

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarship schemes for international study in the world.

Eligibility: The Scholarship is open to candidates who meet the following criteria:

    Nationals from any Commonwealth countries except for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents;
    Have graduated with an undergraduate degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division)/ Honours (Distinction) or equivalent;
    At the time of award of the Scholarship, must have been offered admission to a full-time Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme by research; and
    Should not be in paid employment or accept paid employment or concurrently hold any other scholarship, fellowship, bursary or top-up allowance during the prescribed period of the award.

Nationality: Nationals from any Commonwealth countries except for Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents.

Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have graduated with an undergraduate degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division)/ Honours (Distinction) or equivalent.

English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

The Edinburgh MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme supports the brightest and best African scholars with great potential but few educational opportunities. Through the generous support of the Foundation, Scholars will be provided with the opportunity to become leaders within their communities and to improve the lives of countless more when they return home to Africa.
The University of Edinburgh MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme will provide 80 undergraduate and 120 postgraduate African students with full scholarships over the next seven years. Students will receive comprehensive support to remove barriers to study in Edinburgh and they will benefit from extracurricular course elements including summer schools and internships to build their abilities and make a difference to their home countries and communities on their return.

To be eligible to apply, the following apply:
You must qualify academically for admission to the University of Edinburgh. We prefer that applicants apply to this scholarship BEFORE applying to the University. Please see section on applying below for more information;
You must be a resident and citizen of a Sub-Saharan African country, whose personal circumstances would make accepting an offer from the University of Edinburgh difficult. Applications from Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe are particularly welcome;

The scholarship will provide full scholarships, including accommodation costs, living costs, travel and tuition fees to students taking courses on campus at Edinburgh. 60 Scholars from other MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program institutions will also benefit from participating in a number of online distance learning Masters programmes offered by the University of Edinburgh. Scholars will be provided with the opportunity to become leaders within their communities and to improve the lives of countless more when they return home to Africa.
As well as receiving an excellent education at one of the top ranked universities in the world, undergraduate Scholars will:
Participate in UK and Africa based Summer Schools;
Complete a course on African development;
Engage in a volunteering project in their home country;

Receive support on their return to their home country; and
Following their graduation, around 50% of our undergraduate Scholars will then be supported to complete distance learning Masters degrees after their return to Africa.
Postgraduate masters Scholars will:
Complete six courses followed by the production of a dissertation;
Participate in a retreat designed to nurture leadership skills;
Attend a short Summer School; Undertake an internship which will include reflective learning.
Online distance Masters Scholars will:
Undertake a range of online distance Masters degrees which will be available to 60 Scholars from Edinburgh MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program institutions

The Felix Scholarship was the dream of a generous individual who wished to remain anonymous and is referred to as "the Founder". It was the Founder's wish that the scholarships would allow gifted underprivileged students the chance of furthering their education by attending a university in the UK.
The primary objective of the Felix Scholarship is to stimulate the Felix scholars by exposing them to academic study, cultures, experiences and friendships that they would not otherwise have had the chance to sample.

The Scholarships are open to:
Academically gifted and underprivileged nationals of India, who must hold at least a first class Bachelor's degree from a recognised Indian university or a comparable institution; or
Academically gifted and underprivileged individuals who are nationals of non-Indian and non-EEA countries, who must hold at least a first class Bachelor's degree from a recognised university or a comparable institution and who are recommended by their chosen university.

Number of awards

The number of scholarships is approximately 20 per academic year.
Sponsorship duration
Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course.
If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.
Scholarship benefits
100% of university and college fees, a grant for living expenses, and flight (e.g. India-UK or UK-India) at the start and end of your course.
No extra allowance will be granted for married applicants who are successful.
The cost of living is very high in the UK and the spouses of married students have to make their own arrangements to support themselves. The Scholarship does not provide funding to spouses.

Study in Japan: The Ichiro Kanehara Foundation Scholarship for International Students in Japan, 2018

The new Ichiro Kanehara Foundation Scholarship is now available for foreign students in Japan for the year 2018. The scholarship is awarded to International graduate students, postdoctoral fellow or researchers who are /will be conducting a basic medical research in Japan at least 3 consecutive years including the academic year from April 2018 to March 2019.
Its purpose is to promote academic research and to contribute to improvement in basic medical sciences and medical care. These aims are to be attained by the following scholarship programs.

 In December 1986, in accordance with the wishes of Igaku-Shoin Ltd. in memory of the late Mr. Ichiro Kanehara, The Ichiro Kanehara Foundation for the Promotion of Medical Sciences and Medical Care was established. There is not a specific scholarship application form. You should submit your application for admission to study at Imperial through our online admissions system and your department will put you forward for the scholarship based on academic merit and potential.
When prompted for a personal statement you must ensure that it consists of approx. 1000 words (maximum 2 pages) and outlines your academic and research achievements to date, explaining in brief your planned research project. The selection panel will not consider statements exceeding the 2-page limit. You may submit updated versions of this statement if required following application submission.
To be considered for the President’s Ph.D. Scholarship scheme, applicants must select this option in the funding section of the additional questions tab within the online application form.
